*De-icing is a function of temperature/wind.  Typically, in ponds greater than 1000 gals with a depth of at least 3-5 ft, as long as the air temperature stays above O degrees F  we will keep a small hole open in the ice all winter.

First, the diffuser is to be placed as far away from the effluent or discharge/overflow of the pond as possible. Second, the diffuser is to be placed a 2-3 ft depth  to maximize airflow and minimize power consumption.  This gives you the maximum oxygen transfer available for our solar powered units.
